Shantona Chaudhury

Shantona practices civil litigation in a broad range of fields, with a particular emphasis on appellate litigation.  Shantona has argued cases before all levels of court in Ontario.

Prior to starting practice with Pape Barristers, Shantona clerked for Justice Ian Binnie at the Supreme Court of Canada; trained as a Fox Scholar pupil barrister at the Inns of Court in England; obtained a B.C.L. (Master's in law) from the University of Oxford, receiving the Wadham College Donner Foundation Scholarship; interned as a legal officer in Chambers at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda; and interned at the Parliament of Canada. Shantona is fluent in English and French and holds an LL.B. (common law) and a B.C.L. (civil law) from McGill University, as well as an M.A. in French Literature and a B.A. (Hons.) in French Studies from Queen’s University. 

Shantona has been called to both the Ontario Bar and the Barreau du Québec. 

In January 2012, Shantona was named Executive Director of the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute, which assists counsel appearing before the Supreme Court of Canada.
